Yount Mill House 2022 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Another winner from one of our favorite suppliers of reasonably priced Napa Cabs, Michael Pozzan.  The 2022 Yount Mill House Cabernet opens with a quietly confident Napa profile—blackcurrant, ripe plum, and crushed blackberry layered over warm cedar and a subtle graphite edge. The vintage’s generous fruit is shaped by Yountville’s cooler evening influence, giving the wine a lifted aromatic clarity: hints of violet, bay leaf, and cocoa nib rise from the glass. On the palate, the wine is supple and polished rather than forceful, showing a core of dark cherry and cassis wrapped in fine, cocoa‑dust tannins. Mid‑palate richness is balanced by a clean line of acidity that keeps the fruit vibrant and the structure well‑defined. Notes of espresso, baking spice, and a touch of loamy earth add depth without overwhelming the varietal purity. The finish is long, smooth, and quietly luxurious, tapering with dark fruit, vanilla bean, and a faint mineral echo. Approachable now, but with enough backbone to evolve gracefully over the next several years.
