Weingut Stift Klosterneuburg Zierfandler-Rotgipler
We're big fans of wines produced by the monks at the Stift Klosterneuberg Abbey in Vienna, Austria. Our newest favorite from them is their Zierfandler-Rotgipler White. Since its foundation in 1114 Klosterneuburg monastery has been growing wine and therefore is the oldest wine estate of Austria. The vineyards are situated in selected top locations in Klosterneuburg, Vienna, Gumpoldskirchen and Tattendorf. In 2009 they became the first carbon neutral wine estate in Europe. The estate has been growing the two native varieties 50% Zierfandler (Spätrot "late red") and 50% Rotgipfler for decades and has a light straw-yellow wine with a mineral, tropical nose. The aromas of ripe mango are underpinned by stone fruit and citrus fruits on the palate.
