Westmount Pinot Gris (Oregon) - Westmount was founded by Laurent Montalieu, who grew up in Bordeaux, but spent much of his early wine career at one of Oregon's most iconic wineries, WillaKenzie Estate. Sourced from the winery's 100 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards it is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel tanks to emphasize its freshness and crisp acidity of the Pinot Gris grape. The aromas are vibrant, offering a blend of orange blossom, key lime, and a hint of spiced pear, with subtle undertones of ginger and lemongrass. On the palate, the wine is lively and well-balanced, delivering concentrated notes of sweet citrus, crisp apple, and white pineapple with a fleshy, pleasant texture. The finish is expressive and clean, providing a refreshing and zesty close that makes it a textbook example of bright Oregon Pinot Gris.
Torii Mor Pinot Blanc (Oregon) - Torii Mor Winery is located in the Dundee Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley and was founded by Dr. Donald Olson in 1993 with a vision of crafting elegant, Old World style Pinot Noirs, a philosophy that extends to their white wines. The Pinot Blanc offers a beautiful expression of the Willamette Valley terroir, having been fermented in a stainless steel tank to ensure purity and brightness without going through malolactic fermentation. This pale wine immediately greets the nose with forward, fresh floral notes of elderflower and orange blossom, complemented by aromas of lemon and a subtle aromatic cedar note. The palate is clean, bright, and texturally rich with juicy acidity from start to finish, featuring concentrated flavors of white peach and pear harmonizing with a savory floral and citrus mix. The wine finishes long and dry, leaving a lasting, appealing mineral and lemon-grapefruit sensation that makes it an excellent pairing for seafood.
Matthews Wines Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc (Washington) - Founded by Matthew Loso in 1993 with the goal of producing outstanding Bordeaux varietal/style wines, the winery was sold to the Otis family in 2008 (they had originally invested in 2004) who remain dedicated to Loso's original vision for the winery. That dedication was hugely reinforced in 2021 when they hired a "rockstar" trio to take over winemaking duties. The trio of Head Winemaker Alex Stewart and Winemakers Hal Iverson and Jesse Schmidt were the guys responsible for multiple 100 point Cab & Cab based wines at Quilceda Creek!
Here we have their Bordeaux Blanc style Sauvignon Blanc, with intense aromatics of starfruit, lemony sorrel leaf, juicy green pear, and bright mandarin orange, opening to lovely white florals and a hint of wet stone. The palate is medium-bodied with a luxuriously round, creamy texture that carries concentrated flavors of lemon curd and candied orange peel, all guided by a zesty, clean acidity that leads to a very long, taught finish marked by briny and stony mineral notes.
Lemelson Vineyards White Pinot Noir (Oregon) - Lemelson Vineyards is owned and founded by Eric Lemelson, who is not only a passionate winegrower but also an environmental lawyer and he instills his strong commitment to sustainability into the winery's operations. Their 124 acres of estate vineyards have been certified organic since 2004! The 2024 White Pinot Noir is a relatively rare wine produced by pressing red Pinot Noir grapes immediately and lightly to ensure no color is extracted, much like making a white wine from a red grape in Champagne. The resulting wine has a clean, enticing floral nose combined with the subtle richness of its red grape origins, displaying stone fruit characteristics such as ripe peach and Meyer lemon, along with intriguing hints of tangerine and fig. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, the palate is dry and refreshing, carrying the bright fruit flavors with purity and precision, and culminating in a crisp finish.
Lu & Oly "Flowerhead" Rose (Washington) - Lu & Oly Flowerhead Rosé is made by Mark Ryan Winery, one of Washington State's most respected family owned producers in the Columbia Valley, and this particular label is named after owner Mark Ryan McNeilly's daughters, Lucia and Olivia. 85% Sangiovese and 15% Syrah, sourced from premier Columbia Valley vineyards and made in a dry, crisp style. The aromatic profile is vibrant and fresh, opening with notes of wild strawberry, fresh lemon zest, and delicate white florals, often including hints of rose petals. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a round texture and a backbone of racy, crunchy acidity that maintains a refreshing feel. Flavor layers unfold with ripe raspberry, Rainier cherry, and exotic star fruit, culminating in a crisp, flavorful finish that is both structured and invigorating.
Raptor Ridge Blanc de Noir Brut Sparkling (Oregon) - Raptor Ridge was founded in 1995 by Scott Schull and his wife Annie. This highly regarded, small to medium sized winery crafts some amazing Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines, like many of their Oregon neighbors, but here we have their incredible 2020 vintage sparkling wine, made from 100% Pinot Noir. Crafted in the classic/traditional Champagne method, it is pale in color and features a very fine, persistent stream of bubbles. The aromas are complex and inviting, hinting at bright strawberry and red apple, complemented by savory notes of toasted almond and fresh brioche from its extended aging on the yeast. The palate is dry, crisp, and beautifully structured, delivering a focused core of red fruit and citrus zest that balances a creamy mouthfeel, culminating in a long, elegant, and mineral-driven finish.
