The Dirty Pure Wine Project 2020 "The Bomb" Red Blend

$ 1699 $ 2399

Winemaker Notes

A fantastic new blend from our pals at Nine North Wine Co., The Bomb is simply... da Bomb!

Taylor's customers will be familiar with the great wines produced by these guys as we've carried a number of them - Twenty Bench, Parcel 41, Chasing Lions, Hullabaloo... but this new one may be the best yet.

Usually when you see a North Coast sourced wine labeled red blend, you can guarantee that it is either relabeled Zinfandel or Merlot (usually with a few percent of some other varietal mixed in so they can "honestly" call it a blend).  Not that that there is anything wrong with either varietal, but the Nine North guys felt that the California Red Blend segment was starting to get a little boring and homogeneous and "The Bomb" is their attempt to blow the segment wide open with something a little different.

They decided that Grenache was the perfect delivery vehicle for their new blend but that the blend would change each year according to the best fruit they could get their hands on that brought out the best qualities of the Grenache base that they were working with.  This year Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the supporting players and the resulting wine will have you dropping some F-bombs in disbelief as to how amazingly good this wine is.  Especially with the incredible price that we're selling it for a Taylor's.

The wine has a deep ruby color and aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, spice, and oak. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with flavors of strawberry jam, raspberry, plum, black pepper, and toasty oak. The wine has a long and satisfying finish with soft tannins and balanced acidity. The wine is named "The F Bomb" to reflect its bold and explosive character, as well as the winery's philosophy of making wines that are fun, expressive, and uncomplicated.
