Maison Albert Pinot Noir Pays D'Oc
Château Les Bugadelles is located in the South of France, in the La Clape uplands in the heart of Languedoc, between Narbonne and the Mediterranean. Jean-Claude Albert and his family bought the estate in 2004; abandoned for over a century, the 400 ha of scrubland had become overrun by kermes oak and wild boar. Identifying the terroirs, the Albert family prepared the land to plant vines as well as olive groves, truffle oaks, and fruit trees.
With soils that are mainly made up of limestone (with some sandstone), red clay, and shale, only the natural products and viticultural techniques permitted for organic wine growing are used throughout the estate; sheep take care of the weeds and provide the finest organic manure for their vineyards as they’re so beneficial to the shrubland due to how they aerate the soils, protecting against forest fires. The family goes well beyond the basic prerequisites for organic certification requirements, reverting to ancient farming wisdom and using cutting edge technology at the same time.
On the nose, fresh, red cherry and raspberry notes. On the palate, those red fruits come through; silky texture, smooth tannins, and medium bodied. Pair with charcuterie, a variety of cheese, or our personal favorite- roasted turkey.
