Kumeu River 2022 Estate Chardonnay

An exciting Chardonnay from six different sites in the Kumeu area, this amazing bargain has Puligny Montrachet savor and lift, (without the Puligny price), creamy yet fresh. Pale in color with a highly refined perfume of fresh pear, white peach and a little sandalwood. The palate has a superb sheen, with white fruits and flowers slick and refined, harmonious with a kick of savory spices from well-judged use of oak. There is depth to the fruit, and a gentle creaminess that should build as this ages in bottle. Today though, lemon/lime citrus and a hint of toasted oak drive to the finish, which is long and focused. Drinking great now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years.
