After the devastating fires that ruined much of the Willamette Valley's crop in 2020, Oregon growers and winemakers were much relieved that the 2021 growing season came off without a hitch and is looking to be a stunning vintage.
One of the first wines that we've received from one of the region's "blue chip" producers is Ken Wright's 2021 Willamette Valley offering, and if everything else that follows is anywhere nearly as delicious as this one, the it will truly be a vintage to stock up on for Oregon Pinot Lovers.
Ken Wright works with over a dozen of the Valley's top Pinot Noir vineyards and crafts some of Oregon's most sought after single vineyard offerings. Once the barrel selection and blending are done for those $75+ bottlings, they blend remaining barrels from the top notch sites (including Shea, Freedom Hill, Savoya, Abbot Claim...) with fruit grown specifically for the Willamette Valley Pinot.
Floral notes of magnolia, rose and candied red fruits play with gentle touches of cinnamon and clove on the nose. Flavors of generous red cherry, raspberry, and plum swirl with subtle notes of vanilla cream. This wine graces the entire palate with smoothly textured tannins and leaves it with a lusciously clean finish.
