Cabriz Branco Colheita Seleccionada (Portugal) - Cabriz Branco is a vibrant, refreshing white blend sourced from Portugal's Dão region, featuring a blend of indigenous grapes like Encruzado, Bical, Malvasia-Fina, and Cerceal-Branco. The wine shows a bright, citrus-yellow color with an inviting aromatic intensity, with primary notes of crisp green apple, juicy pear, and grapefruit zest. On the palate, it is dry, elegant, and harmonious, offering a refreshing acidity that carries a distinct, stony minerality. It is this minerality and acid structure that makes it a perfect pick for fall: enough freshness to handle your final outdoor dinners, but its subtle volume and delicate texture make it an ideal transition wine, standing up beautifully to richer autumn flavors like roasted poultry, root vegetables, and mild fall squash dishes.
Il Meridione Grillo (Italy) - Grillo is a resilient white grape indigenous to Sicily, perfectly adapted to the island’s hot, arid climate. For centuries, its primary role was as a key component in the production of Marsala, the island's famous fortified wine. However, in recent decades, winemakers have rediscovered its potential for producing delicious, aromatic, and versatile dry white wines. A vibrant and appealing wine that is a perfect example of a modern, dry Sicilian Grillo. It has a fragrant, honeyed nose with notes of ripe stone fruit, ginger, and white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and appealing, with a core of sun-dried citrus and savory notes, a creamy texture, and a zesty, saline acidity that provides a long, clean finish.
Domaine de Millet Gascogne Blanc (France) - This wonderful white Rhône is unusual in that it is a highly regarded wine that comes from a cooperative but one embraces natural winemaking—using native yeasts and minimal additives—lending the wine an artisanal quality wine rarely seen at this price point. Made predominantly from Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne, the wine is full-bodied, yet surprisingly fresh. It presents concentrated notes of ripe yellow and tropical fruit, like apricot and peach, along with white flowers and a subtle, balancing minerality. This roundness and substance make it ideal for fall food pairings, where it shines against the richer textures and earthier flavors of the season, such as roasted chicken or turkey, mushroom tarts, butternut squash risotto, and mature, hard cheeses.
Pavette Sauvignon Blanc (California) - Pavette sources grapes from across California, regions like the North Coast and Clarksburg, and is vinified to capture a sunnier, more approachable profile than its lean New Zealand or Loire Valley counterparts. It features a bouquet of ripe lychee, fleshy peach, and citrus blossom, with notes of green apple and a mineral core that provide freshness without being too sharp. This rounder, more fruit-forward, and slightly softer texture is what makes it a solid choice for the season, as it moves away from a purely zesty summer-sipper and towards a white that can handle richness.
Paul Anheuser Blanc de Noir (Germany) - The Paul Anheuser Blanc de Noir is a fascinating dry white wine made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes from the historic, family-run Anheuser estate in the Nahe region of Germany, a family that has been cultivating vines since 1627. By pressing the red grapes immediately with minimal skin contact, the resulting wine achieves a pale, golden-white color and maintains a good, firm structure that sets it apart from typical light whites. It presents a distinctive flavor profile, offering delicate red fruit notes of subtle strawberry and raspberry interwoven with piquant orchard fruit, green apple, and a clean, stony minerality. This unique combination of body and refreshing acidity makes it a spectacular choice for fall.
Moulin de Gassac "Guilhem" Rose (Languedoc) - Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rosé hails from the Languedoc region of France and is the second-label expression of the legendary, family-owned Mas de Daumas Gassac, often referred to as the "Lafite of the Languedoc." 40% Grenache, 40% Carignan & 20% Carignan from 25-50-year-old vines grown in stony soils. The color is pretty, a pale carnation pink. Nuances of peach, strawberry, wildflower and “flint” all harmonize on the nose. Flavors of not-quite-ripe raspberry, apricot and peach delight the palate and finish with crisp sweet/tart acidity balanced with a hint of minerality.
