Tasting Notes

Founded in 1996 by Napa Valley superstars Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, Goldeneye serves as the dedicated cool-climate specialist within The Duckhorn Portfolio. The winery was established in the Anderson Valley just as the world started to catch onto how good the wines from this area could be , driven by the founders' belief that the valley's unique microclimate—defined by marine-influenced cooling fog and ideal clay soils—offered the perfect environment for world-class viticulture. Today, the estate spans over 130 acres across several distinct vineyard sites, all managed with a commitment to sustainable farming and a small-lot approach that emphasizes varietal purity and an intimate sense of place.

The Goldeneye North Coast Brut Rosé opens with a lifted, elegant aromatic profile that blends wild strawberry, Rainier cherry, and pomegranate with a subtle overlay of rose petal, blood orange zest, and fresh brioche. There’s a cool‑coastal clarity to the nose — a mix of red fruit purity and faint saline minerality that signals its Anderson Valley heritage even though the label reads “North Coast.”

On the palate, the wine is precise, vibrant, and quietly luxurious, driven by a fine, persistent mousse that carries flavors of crushed raspberry, white cherry, cranberry, and ruby grapefruit. The mid‑palate shows Goldeneye’s signature textural polish: a gentle creaminess from extended lees contact that rounds the acidity without muting it. Underneath the fruit, a line of chalky minerality and coastal freshness keeps everything taut and refreshing. The finish is long and mouthwatering, echoing citrus peel, red currant, and a touch of almond pastry, with a clean, saline snap that invites another sip.
