The 2020 Dominus Napa Valley Estate Red is a profound and highly structured Bordeaux-style blend composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, sourced entirely from the historic, dry-farmed Napanook Vineyard in Yountville. This vintage pours a deep garnet-purple and unfurls with intense aromas of baked blackberries, cassis, cassis-infused kirsch, and black cherries. These fruit notes are layered with complex undertones of jasmine tea, sandalwood, lavender, saddle leather, and smoldering tobacco, alongside a distinct mineral edge of graphite and warm paving stone. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, and richly textured; its powerful dark fruit profile is framed by a firm, vertical, and grainy tannin structure that finishes exceptionally long with lingering notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut, and exotic Indian spices.
To complement its robust structure and velvety tannins, focus on rich, high-fat red meats that can easily absorb the wine's powerful grip.
