Daou Vineyards 2024 Pessimist Red Blend
Tasting Notes
Daou Vineyards’ 2024 Pessimist Red Blend is built from a dark‑fruited, full‑bodied mix of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Zinfandel, and a small portion of Lagrein, a combination that gives the wine its signature richness, plush texture, and brooding aromatics. The nose bursts with blackberry compote, blueberry, black plum, and cherry liqueur layered over mocha, vanilla bean, violets, baking spice, and a touch of smoky cedar. On the palate it is dense and velvety, offering waves of ripe black fruit, cocoa, espresso, licorice, and warm spice supported by supple tannins and a long, smooth finish that carries hints of dark chocolate and toasted oak. Its bold, generous style makes it a natural match for braised short ribs, barbecue, burgers, grilled lamb, pepper‑crusted steak, hearty pastas, smoky chilis, or aged cheeses, all of which complement the wine’s depth and lush fruit profile.
