Bruce Patch Wines 2018 "Take Five" Red Blend

$ 4999

Bruce's first career was the music business where he produced and promoted small bands in California, which eventually evolved into promoting small wineries, which naturally led to Bruce beginning to make his own wines.

The Taylor's crew has been fans of winemaker Bruce Patch for over a decade, and his wine just seem to be getting better and better.  We first found out about Bruce through his Wine Guerrilla label and when the partnership behind that label fell apart Bruce kept going under his eponymous Bruce Patch Wines, which, like the Wine Guerrilla bottlings, featured the amazing artwork of his wife Andrea Cleall.

Pouring a dark crimson color with a 14.1% ABV, this wine features a complex varietal composition of 45% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot. On the nose, it delivers an aromatic profile highlighted by rich dark fruits, wet leaves, licorice, pipe tobacco, and worn leather. The palate is full-bodied, lush, and impeccably balanced, bursting with juicy flavors of black currants, cassis, tobacco smoke, and dark plums. Structured yet approachable, it features a warm, supple finish with well-integrated oak and spice notes that linger long after the final sip.

The structural depth and robust, fruit-forward profile of this Knights Valley blend make it an excellent companion for rich, savory meat dishes. The wine pairs exceptionally well with classic roasted or grilled lamb chops, seared veal chops, and slow-braised beef short ribs, as its smooth tannins and bright fruit balance the fats and proteins effortlessly. It is equally delicious alongside hearty, wood-fired gourmet burgers or an earthy mushroom risotto, making it highly versatile for both backyard barbecues and formal dinners.
