Barbanera DOCG Chianti

The Barbanera family founded their Tuscan estate in 1936 and have since expanded into Puglia and Sicily. Their polished, pleasure bent wines are easy to love.

Most Chianti wines at this price point are usually on the lean and acidic side. They can be fine with pizza or red sauce pasta dishes, but they are rarely rich and smooth enough that you would want to try them without the tomato's balancing acidity.  Vivid red color shows light garnet hues developed during the aging in large oak foudre. In the glass it presents ethereal and delicate aroma of violet on the nose, complemented by pronounced ripe red berries and pungent spices scents.  Once in the mouth, it is a surprisingly smooth medium bodied, classic Chianti with aromas and flavors of ripe cherries, blackberries, licorice, vanilla, pepper and violets.
