It's no secret that we love Kirk Vinge and the wines that he and his Dad Nils craft at Venge Vineyards. The Signal Fire Zinfandel is one of Napa's top Zins and so sought after and production so low that NC didn't get any for the 2014, 2015 and 2020 vintages. The Signal Fire Vineyard emerges from an 8-acre, old gnarly-vine parcel of Zinfandel in Calistoga. This is a spectacular, full throttle Zinfandel--rich, with blackberry and briary fruit, pepper, graphite and spice, meaty, rich, and super-concentrated yet so supremely balanced you don't notice the 15+% alcohol.
