Switchback Ridge 2019 Peterson Family Vineyard Petite Sirah
This 100% Petite sirah is a blend of 81% New Block (planted in 1995) and 19% Old Vine (planted in 1956). This inky, dark purple powerhouse completely coats the glass and captures the senses with aromas of spiced blueberry, baked plum and just a hint of white pepper. The entire mouth is drawn into the immense tannin which eventually softens giving way to notes of sweet molasses, ripple plums and dark cherries. Pleasant spicy cigar box and graphite-like notes grace the finish and intermix with the residual blueberry pie sweetness. A massive wine with incredible concentration and depth of flavor to be enjoyed for decades.
94PTS Jeb Dunnuck : “Coming from a single block of vineyard planted in 1956, the 2019 Petite Sirah Peterson Family Vineyard is a big beast of a wine revealing a dense purple color, a massive core of black and blue fruits, full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and remarkable complexity in its flowery incense, violets, orange blossom, and spicy aromas and flavors. It should keep for a decade”
