Saxum 2021 G2 Vineyard Red
Winemaker Notes
In the glass, the Saxum G2 Vineyard 2021 unveils a deep and enchanting hue, hinting at the complexity that awaits the discerning palate. The nose of this vintage is a gorgeous tapestry of raspberries and spice, a harmonious blend that immediately entices. Delicate floral notes dance alongside the vibrant red and black raspberry fruits, creating a symphony of aromas. The nose is a prelude to the exquisite texture that caresses the palate, promising an unparalleled tasting.
As the wine graces the palate, it reveals a remarkable texture that is the hallmark of Saxum wines. The cool vintage of 2021, akin to the distinguished 2007 vintage, imparts freshness, lift, and focus. Yet, what sets this vintage apart is the influence of a dry season, contributing a different profile compared to wetter years. The concentration and texture are noteworthy, a testament to the impact of weather on the vineyard. The tannins, soft and supple, elevate the wine, making it a versatile companion for enthusiasts. While enjoyable in its youth, it carries the promise of aging gracefully, with a long and rewarding life ahead.

Not yet bottled but already incredibly impressive, the 2021 G2 will be Grenache-dominated but includes smaller amounts of Syrah and Graciano. It’s loaded with red and black raspberry-like fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy nuances, which carry to a full-bodied, pure, elegant red. It’s remarkably complex for such a young wine and has incredible tannins and a gorgeous finish. Don’t miss it.
