La Nerthe 2021 "Les Cassagnes" Cotes du Rhone Blanc

Chateau Le Nerthe is one of the oldest and most famous producers of Chateauneuf du Pape.  Records show that the estate dates back as far as 1500's and at one point was known as the best and most expensive producer in the Southern Rhone.  Over the centuries, the fortunes of the estate have waxed and waned and in 1985 the historic but dilapidated estate received new ownership that has restored the proper to its former glory and expanded the vineyard holdings. 

Fruit for this amazing Rhone Blanc come from one of these recent additions to the estate, the high altitude Domaine de la Renjarde vineyard.  The certified organic vineyard is planted to Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Viognier for the white varietals that comprise this bottling.

Aromas of fresh lemons, dried leaves. fennel and wildflowers on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with a fresh core of yellow fruit mingling with the herbs. There is volume and a well-rounded texture on the mid-palate and onto the flavorful finish, with a touch of anise spice.
