The 2022 Crognolo is a powerful and elegant wine with a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is complex and layered, offering an aromatic profile of fresh red fruits like strawberries and cherries, complemented by savory and floral undertones. As the wine opens up, you can detect notes of orange peel, cedar, black olive, and violet, which add a sophisticated complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and vibrant. It races across the palate with flavors of dark-fleshed fruit, chocolate, and licorice. Despite its richness, it maintains a fantastic sense of energy and freshness. The tannins are firm and racy, providing excellent structure that suggests the wine will age gracefully, with a lingering finish that has a refreshing, slightly bitter citrus note.

This wine is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. The Sangiovese grapes are particularly special, as they come from a historic clone found only on the Sette Ponti estate, which has been organically farmed.
