Marchiori & Barraud 2024 Malbec
Tasting Notes
The 2024 Malbec from Marchiori & Barraud is a striking example of Argentina’s Uco Valley terroir, crafted from 100% Malbec grapes sourced from the Las Pintadas and La Esperanza vineyards in Tunuyán and Tupungato. This wine showcases a bright ruby red color and opens with aromatic notes of black cherry, bitter chocolate, and menthol, underscored by a subtle nuttiness. On the palate, it is supple and well-structured, with vibrant acidity and a textured mouthfeel that frames flavors of licorice, walnut, and ripe dark fruit. Aged for 10 months in French oak and produced using traditional methods with native yeasts, the wine maintains a balance between richness and elegance, making it both approachable and refined.
This Malbec pairs beautifully with grilled meats such as skirt steak or lamb chops, and its savory depth complements dishes like mushroom risotto, roasted pork, and blue cheese burgers. The wine’s acidity and fruit-forward profile also make it a great match for pepper-seasoned dishes, creamy sauces, and aged cheeses like Gouda or Roquefort. For a vegetarian pairing, try it with lentil stew or eggplant parmesan to highlight its earthy undertones.
