Flegenheimer Bros. 2020 "Out Of The Park" Shiraz

Benjamin Hammerschlag’s family arrived in the States from Germany in the late 1800’s. His great-great grandfather married a young girl by the name of Flegenheimer and joined her family’s business as New York Wine Merchants. Established in 1876, Flegenheimer Bros dealt exclusively in quality beverages and was still flourishing in 1919 when the manufacture, transportation and sale of alcoholic beverages was outlawed in the United States through Prohibition. Three generations later, the youngest Hammerschlag has decided to resurrect this heritage with wines of excellence from Australia. To make his vision come true, Benjamin enlisted the talents of one of Australia's most renowned winemakers (and one of our favorites here at Taylor's) Ben Glaetzer. 

The Flegenheimer Bros 2020 Out of the Park Shiraz from McLaren Vale, South Australia, is a bold and expressive red wine that showcases the richness of its terroir. It opens with intense aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with notes of oak, chocolate, and vanilla that add depth and warmth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and smooth, with ripe black fruit flavors complemented by hints of cocoa, leather, and a touch of smoke. Subtle spice and pepper add complexity, while the inclusion of Petite Sirah in the blend enhances the wine’s structure, minerality, and vibrant acidity. The finish is velvety and lingering, making it a compelling choice for lovers of robust, fruit-forward Shiraz.
