Rosé Wine Month 6 bottle Sampler #2 - Next Level Rosés
$185 Value for Just $135
Inexpensive, easy drinking Roses are great but sometimes the occasion calls for something a little more complex and substantial. These "next level" Roses are still cool and refreshing, but they have excellent depth and complexity meaning they are still great for an end of a long day quaffer, but have the substance to stand up to a wide variety of meals too.
Bouquet of Roses, 6-pack sampler includes:
Devaux Brut Rose Champagne (France) - For over 100 years the Devaux family ran this fantastic small, Champagne house. In the 1950's there was no heir to take the reigns, so instead of selling to a corporate buyer or even another family, the Devauxs sold their winery to the small farmers and grape growers that supplied them grapes and the “Union Auboise”, (now the “Groupe Vinicole Champagne DEVAUX”) was formed. A salmon-hued color in the glass with an elegant mousse. The aromas show raspberry notes, plus rose petals and wild herbs. On the palate, this elevated Champagne offers a bright and textured mouthfeel full of red fruit flavors and a hint of mint, plus chalky mineral undertones which lead to a long finish.
Agerre Txakolina Rose (Spain) - If you're unfamiliar with Spain's Txakolina wines, then this is a great one to start with. This 100% Hondarribi Zuri from Agerre, third-generation wine growers in Getaria, is a classic Txakoli that will have you agreeing that Txakolina is one of the world's most refreshing types of wine. Fermented with native yeasts, so you get salty, earthy, delicate notes without the confected character that pervades Txakolis made with commercial yeasts. Its lively acidity and slight effervescence make it an excellent match for seafood, such as grilled shrimp or calamari, as well as light dishes like a Spanish tortilla or fresh salads.
Bon Ton Napa Valley (California) - Unfortunately land and therefore grapes are expensive in Napa, so it it a rare find to get a small production Napa wine under $25, even a Rose. We were really excited when we found this delicious example a such a great price. This is a red wine drinkers Rose that can match the best of what France has to offer from the likes of Bandol or Tavel. Pliant and creamy, with gorgeous depth it is a dark-colored Rosé with an abundance of redcurrants, cranberries, frozen raspberries, and watermelon with some warm spices, too.
Stoller Rose of Pinot Noir (Oregon) - The Stoller family has now been making this fantastic Pinot Rose for 20 years running, and it consistently delivers juicy, citrus-driven fruit, brilliant acidity, and subtle minterality. The 2024 vintage was no exception: orange peel and zesty pomelo leap from the glass, with flirtatious notes of ripe strawberry and wet stone. An electric vibrancy buzzes across the palate as the wine fades into notes of lime zest and white tea.
Chateau de Trinquevedel (France) - Did you know that Tavel is France's only AOC (wine region) dedicated solely to producing Roses? And they aren't your coppery, salmon, light pink style Roses either. Guillaume Demoulin is the fourth generation of his family to farm the beautiful vineyards of Chateau de Trinquevedel. Pale garnet in color and gorgeously perfumed with blossoms and watermelon, this crisp, blackberry-flavored Rosé juxtaposes zesty black fruit flavors against a deep, penetrating undertone of crushed stone and spice. A stately expression of Tavel that will drink beautifully year-round and for at least another few years to come.

Grey Stack "Four Brothers Vineyard" Rose (California) - This is a truly unique wine with deep dense fruits of plum and black cherry. Slightly pressed rose petals and spice add to the evolving nose. The wine has an incredibly intense minerality that dances on the palate and mixes with the bright acidity. This wine has a beautiful balance. The wine finishes clean and pure without any lingering heat or astringency or anything out of place.
