Great Value Reds Mixed Case – June/July 2025

$210 value for just $149

Some really fun stuff in this latest Great Value Mixed Case, including new vintages of some old favorites.

The mixed case includes 2 bottles each wine:

Corryton Burge South Australia Cabernet Sauvignon (Australia) – Grant Burge is one of Australia’s iconic winemakers and after selling his eponymous winery is now back with the Corryton Burge label, with the Corryton part of the name taken from the 100+ year old vineyard that sourced many of Grant’s most famous wines.  A velvety, robust and fruit-driven Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep crimson red with ruby red hues, black cherry, liquorice and leather aromas. The cherry notes carry through to the palate along with hints of spice and dark chocolate. The tannins are soft and velvety.

Lapis Luna Zinfandel (California) – Summertime kicks grilling season into high gear for many people and we love California Zin for just about anything off the grill, but especially with juicy burgers and anything covered in BBQ sauce.  This juicy Zinfandel from the North Coast of California is packed with flavor. Look for dark blue and black fruits, floral aromas, a hint of cracked black pepper, and a tasty dollop of vanilla oak on the finish.

Nokat Bordeaux Rouge (France) – A typical Bordeaux blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon that is Medium to full-bodied and nicely balanced with a brilliant, dark ruby color. The nose is moderately intense offering scents of blackberry & earth. The palate delivers flavors of red cherry, black currant, and graphite. The finish is long & lingering with dry tannins.

Borsao “Esteem” Garnacha (Spain) – Bodegas Borsao has long been the producer of some of Spain’s top value Garnachas (Grenache) and Garnacha Blends from the Campo de Borjo regions.  Esteem is a new, lighter style, unoaked Garnacha this is perfect for summer. It offers classic dark berry fruit and a dash of cherry on the nose. On the palate, the fruit dominates with nice black and white pepper, good acidity and light tannins.

Paul Ponnelle Pinot Noir (France) - As prices for Burgundy continue to sky-rocket, the Languedoc has been quietly growing Pinot Noir capable of rivaling many entry level Burgundy wines at a fraction of the price. The bouquet is round and explosive with notes of ripe red fruits and spices. The mouth is soft with aromas of cherries and flowers. This wine develops all the finesse and delicacy of Bourgogne Rouge for a fraction of the price.

Capitulo 7 “Belinda” Red (Argentina) – This unusual (60/40 Bonarda/Pedro Ximenez) blend from Mendoza was one of our favorite summer reds for a few years and we’ve been anxiously waiting for another distributor to pick the brand up after their old distributor was sold.  Finally back in stock and delicious as ever, Capitulo 7 blends 40% Pedro Ximenez, white grape used to make Pisco and Sherry together with the dark and inky red Bonarda (Charbono in California).  The result is a wine could easily be mistaken for a Cru Beaujolais because of its freshness and light yet firm structure on the palate.  The nose is dizzying with wild aromatics full of ripe red and blue berry fruit along with delicate notes of violets and fresh herbs like sage. There is a prominent mineral note of crushed rock that gives the wine a very lifted character.
