Block 9 "Caiden's Vineyards" Cabernet Sauvignon (California) - A fantastic new find, we're pretty sure that you and everyone you share it will not believe this fantastic Cali Cabernet costs just $15 (even less when you get it in our Great Value Case!). "This wine is supple, lively, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, dried herbs, vanilla cream, and notes of mulled spices on the nose. The flavors on the palate are strawberry-rhubarb, pomegranate, grapefruit zest, sprinkled with cinnamon, pink peppercorn, and a spiced dry finish. - 92pts Wine Enthusiast"
Domaine Roman "Cuvee Roman" Pinot Noir (Languedoc, France) - Everything about this wine is "old world & old school," from the historic bottle shape, classic old world Pinot Noir flavor profile and the dated looking label. Thankfully the price is dated too as this is an absolutely delicious, elegant and earthy style Pinot Noir for just $15, especially when you consider the price of Burgundian Pinots today. Displays a bright ruby red color with upfront aromas of freshly-picked raspberries and an underlying savory note. The palate offers fleshy red fruits, fine tannins, and juicy acidity, creating a well-structured and serious Pinot Noir.
Domaine Masseria Borgo dei Trulli Primitivo Salento (Puglia, Italy) - Displays aromas of black cherries, prunes, spice and white pepper. The mouth feel is full-bodied, velvety and elegant, with soft yet firm tannins and a long, lingering finish. 10 months in used French oak adds an element of complexity that you don't normally see in an Italian wine at this price. Ideal with pizza, pasta with rich meat sauces.
La Posta Tinto (Mendoza, Argentina) - We had forgotten just how good this Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah blend from Mendoza was until we had the chance to try the latest vintage recently. "A well-made red with subtle spices and coffee to the blackberries and black cherries. Fresh and fluid on the medium-bodied palate with crunchy, lightly chewy tannins. Fresh and fruity finish with plenty of spiced cherries and strawberries in the medium-length finish. - 91pts James Suckling"
Sopla Levante Monastrell (Spain) - An all natural, organically grown, no sulfites added Monastrell (Mourvedre) from the Alicante region of Spain shows all the best, textbook qualities of Monastrell that is making it an increasingly popular varietal. Lovely, deep garnet color with aromas and flavors of black fruit, plums, balsamic, eucalyptus, and a background of toasted wood nuances from 10 months in used American oak that provides hints of vanilla and sweet spices.
Domaine Bertrand-Berge "Luna" Rouge (Fitou, France) - The Bertrand family, Domaine Bertrand-Berge, handcrafted this rich and bold wine from 40 to 70 year-old vines growing on schistes and limestone soils in the heart of the Languedoc's Fitou district. 40% Grenache Noir, 30% Carignan, 30% Syrah, this Cotes du Rhone style wine is juicy and and spicy with aromas of juicy, ripe red and black fruits and garrigue scents. The palate carries the aromas and power of the nose within a smooth and rich mouth feel. The finish is long with notes of fruit, leather, tobacco, and spice.
