Keenan 2015 Spring Mountain Cabernet Franc 1.5L (Magnum)

Winemaker Notes

This wine was produced exclusively from grapes grown on the Keenan Estate located in Napa Valley’s Spring Mountain District. Their two blocks of Cabernet Franc were harvested on September 21st and October 1st, 2015. The fruit was hand-picked then, after de-stemming, the must was inoculated with Montrachet yeast and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged in French and American oak barrels for twenty months.

Produced from 100% Cabernet Franc and coming from the Spring Mountain District, the 2015 Cabernet Franc shows a medium to deep garnet-purple color with vibrant red currants and cherries scents over lovely roses, lilac and bouquet garni nuances with a touch of dusty earth. Medium-bodied, finely crafted and fresh with lovely, perfumed fruit, it has a long, mineral-laced finish. Yum!

From two blocks of cabernet franc at Keenan’s Upper Bowl, a vineyard at 2,000 feet elevation on Spring Mountain, this cabernet franc ripened into an elegant cranberry-scented red. A gentle undertone of herbs, like celery leaf, contrasts the supple red fruit, the structure light and austere. This should age gracefully over the next several years.
