Domaine Schoffit 2023 Vieilles Vignes Chasselas

$ 2899

Winemaker Notes

The grape variety chasselas (also: gutedel) has its origins in Switzerland. Until 1970, 10% of the vineyard area in Alsace consisted of chasselas, now far from 1%. Bernard Schoffit fortunately still has a vineyard with very old vines 80+ years!) which he pampers and who give beautiful, even impressive wines. In fact, Schoffit has become famous because of this Chasselas! It is a wine that has not gone unnoticed by the international press and that does remarkably well in restaurants. It has a strong scent, with fresh white fruit and striking floral and light spicy (cardamom, nutmeg) notes. The palate is pleasantly dry and rich, with notes of white fruit such as goudreinet, a hint of lychee and hints of hay and nuts. The finish is clean and intense. A unique wine with a lot of concentration and length.
