Tasting Notes
Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages is widely celebrated as America’s #1 French red wine. Maison Louis Jadot stands out in the region by avoiding traditional carbonic maceration, opting instead for classic Burgundian vinification. They also practice a unique "replis" method, blending higher-classification grapes from the 10 famed Beaujolais Crus into this regional wine.
Made from 100% Gamay grapes, this medium-bodied red wine showcases the distinct terroir of northern Beaujolais, where vines thrive on rolling hills of granite and sandy subsoils rich in manganese. In the glass, it displays a vibrant ruby-purple color and opens with an expressive nose of ripe strawberries, red raspberries, and dark cherries, accented by subtle hints of violets, grey pepper, and licorice.
On the palate, the wine is remarkably juicy and fruit-forward, offering a balanced structure with fresh acidity, soft tannins, and a clean, slightly spicy finish. The exceptional versatility of Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages makes it an effortless match for a wide range of foods. Its crisp acidity and gentle tannins effortlessly cut through rich appetizers, making it a perfect partner for charcuterie boards loaded with pâté, prosciutto, and cornichons, as well as creamy cheeses like Brie and Camembert. For the main course, its bright fruit profile beautifully complements herb-roasted chicken, turkey, or grilled pork chops, and its smooth texture makes it a rare red wine that pairs excellently with meaty fish like grilled salmon or seared ahi tuna. For the best tasting experience, serving this wine slightly chilled at 54–57°F (12–14°C) is highly recommended to enhance its refreshing qualities.
