Upon Paul Buisse’s retirement, the estate was passed to his close friend Pierre Chainier, whose own winemaking lineage in France dates all the way back to 1749. What makes this producer truly extraordinary is its cellars, located near the medieval castle of Montrichard. The wines are aged inside the Caves de la Boule Blanche, a series of ancient troglodyte caves hand-carved directly into massive cliffs of soft white limestone known as tuffeau. These subterranean stone caverns maintain a natural, constant temperature of 54°F year-round, providing the ultimate environment for slow, graceful aging.
