Acolytes by OLG 2023 Pinot Noir

$ 2999 $ 3499

Our Lady of Guadalupe's "Acolytes" Pinot Noir is the latest release from superstar winemaker and Taylor's favorite David Phinney.

The OLG vineyard in Santa Barbara is Dave's first vineyard that he has purchased, planted and farmed to his specifications. The original release from the label, the "main" label Pinot Noir is absolutely stunning, but is designed to be cellared for 4-5+ years before it really starts to reach its true heights. Acolytes shares many of the qualities of the main label but is designed and built to be at its best over the next few years while you wait for your main label wine to mature in your cellar.

The wine pours a brooding crimson core, often with a bright, lucid rose hip rim. The aromatics are complex and layered, frequently presenting notes of muddled or bright raspberry, bing and black cherry, and sometimes the coastal influence of lavender and sagebrush. These core fruit tones are often interwoven with savory and spice elements like rose petal, black tea, kola nut, cedarwood, fragrant cumin, and even a hint of crushed black pepper or menthol. On the palate, the texture is generally soft and polished, but the structure is firm and energetic, delivering concentrated flavors of black and ripe strawberry, pomegranate, and cranberry, balanced by a pervasive layer of bright acidity. The finish is long and energetic, concluding with subtle, savory nuances of fennel, anise, and a distinct minerality, often described with a saline or sea-like hint that speaks directly to the vineyard's coastal location. The overall profile is that of a powerful yet seamless wine with remarkable purity of fruit and freshness.
