Winemaker Notes

Vienna is the only European capital with a wine-growing regions within city limits, its 700 hectares roughly the same size as Meursault.  Alex Zahel is the only Demeter-certified biodynamic producer in the region, and the first regenerative- certified winegrower in Austria.  Gemischter Satz is the famous field blend grown within Vienna that consists of the six "noble" grape varietals grown in the region - Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Traminer and Chardonnay. Gemischter Satz must be grown together within Vienna, then picked on the same day, this electric white by winemaker Alexander Zahel is then co-fermented dry using only native, wild yeasts.  This fresh white is crisp with a firm body and a generous acidity that accentuates green and yellow fruit notes. Think lime blossom, green apple, and wet limestone that are all perfectly balanced.
