Winemaker Notes

A deep burgundy core reveals rich and inviting aromas of black cherry, blackberry, plum, vanilla and delicate violets. The palate continues with the same black cherry and blackberry fruits, mixed with subtle hints of mocha, eucalyptus, forest floor and toasted oak. The finish is long and lingering with bittersweet chocolate notes and smooth, velvety tannins.

The 2022 Switchback Ridge might be one of the best, if not the best release ever from the estate! Sourced from their venerable Peterson Ranch in Calistoga, this wine offers intense aromas of black stone fruits with a touch of herbs on the nose.  The wine is lush and intense, very full-bodied, yet extremely elegant while densely concentrated and powerful.  The wine oozes with bright fruit and a touch of toasty vanilla, that are elegant and lead into a long, silky-grained tannin finish.  This is a wine that will cellar for a good 15-20 years!
