Tasting Notes
Crafted from a blend of 90% Zinfandel, 5% Barbera, and 5% Petite Sirah, this wine draws fruit from historic vineyards including Old Massoni Ranch, Renwood Ranch, Di Stasio, and Esola Vineyard, with vines ranging from decades to over a century old. It pours a deep ruby hue and opens with aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and dried violet, followed by notes of green peppercorn, cocoa powder, and fresh herbs. The palate is well-balanced and seamless, showcasing juicy red fruit, fine-grained tannins, and bright acidity that lend freshness and structure. Aged in neutral oak to preserve varietal character, it offers a refined take on Zinfandel that avoids the jammy excesses often associated with the style. Ideal food pairings include BBQ ribs, grilled sausages, spicy chili, or eggplant Parmesan, as well as aged cheddar or Manchego.
