Marietta OVR (Old Vine Red) - This wine is an absolute steal, a 95 point Parker's Wine Advocate Wine for under $20.  A classic old vine field blend of Zinfandel from 2020 is given added complexity and length by barrel aged Syrah and Petite Sirah from 2019 and 2018. A touch of Grenache and Barbera add a more complex red fruit character and hint of red licorice and white pepper.

Three Wine Co. Contra Costa County Zin - After years of making award winning wine at his brother's Cline Cellars, Matt Cline is out on his own with this Tree Wine Co. wines.  His Contra Costa Zinfandel is luscious combination of ancient-vine Carignane (44%), Zinfandel (17%) Petite Sirah (14%), Mataro (19%), Alicante Bouschet (4%), and Black Malvoisie (2%). Each of these varietals contribute to the deep purple/black color and piercing, high-toned aromas of boysenberry violets and dark plum. Massive on the attack, showing off all of its 100+ year-old-vine pedigree. Packed with crushed black fruits and black cherry liqueur, the finish remains firm and vibrant and has the backbone to stand up to many types of food or cellar for up to a decade.

Montenero Primitivo Primitivo is Italy's version of Zinfandel but they typically stay true to "old world" style, being much more elegant and vibrant than California versions of the grape. Offering spicy, plum, prune, fig fruit and savoury dried herb. The palate is soft, ripe and warm with black cherries, chocolate, balsamic notes with a touch of acidity poking through a low tannin finish.

Shelton "Wild Thing" Zin - This fantastic Mendocino Zin was honored as one of Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of the Year for 2021 and the current vintage is every bit as good.  Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit.

Easton Amador Zin - Bill Easton doesn't release his wines until they are ready, and his finess driven style of Zin takes a little longer to come around than more fruit forward styles of Zin, so yes, the 2016 is his latest release.  Smooth and creamy yet firm enough for good grip, this is a big but well-balanced wine that offers plenty of ripe berries and plums along with hints of black pepper and sage. Moderate tannins seem to build on the palate and add a good bite to the finish.

Lodi Identified Zin - Lodi is home to the state's oldest Zin vineyards and annually produces around 40% of California's Zinfandel grapes.  Lodi Identified is textbook Lodi Zin.  Lodi’s sandy soils and Mediterranean climate allow the grapes to ripen to perfection and produce bold, aromatic Zins. Our full-bodied yet perfectly balanced 2018 Identified Lodi Zinfandel displays pronounced, slightly smoky aromas of cherry and cocoa. On the palate jammy dark berry flavors are complemented by complex notes of licorice, chocolate and a hint of oaky vanilla. The layered finish displays well- integrated tannins and a mouth-watering fruity acidity.
