Green Eyes Gruner Veltliner – Light in color, crisp and refreshing, Hermann Moser’s Green Eyes Grüner Veltliner is a textbook example of Austria's signature white wine with an appealing bouquet of freshly picked pears mingled with a hint of spice for which Grüner Veltliner is renowned. Appetizing and lively in the mouth, Moser’s Green Eyes goes down easily, but not before treating the taste buds to an appetizing burst of citrus and clean mineral flavors that leave the mouth begging for more making it a perfect white for these last hot days of summer. It also a great match for spicy South-West and Asian cuisine.
Bonus! There's enough to share as it comes in a 1L size!
Ridgeback Chenin Blanc – Ridgeback is one of our favorite producers of South African wines, and we’re including their perfectly aged 2017 Chenin Blanc. With a couple years in the bottle it had developed some extra richness, notes of almond, honeysuckle and starfruit to go along with the classic notes of pineapple and sweet orange blossom that evolve to a fresh, juicy mid-palate with hints of lemon zest and white peach lingering on the finish. A great mid-weight wine perfect for the season as summer heads into fall.
Poggio Costa Prosecco Brut - Light straw yellow color with green reflections, clear, with a faint, rich and persistent perlage. Its perfume is elegant, with a rich bouquet characterized by flowers surrounded harmoniously by fruity hints that redolent of Golden apple. The taste is fresh, delicate, balanced and light and is exceptionally lively and fresh with strong minerality. This a crisp, fruit-forward, brut (dry) style Prosecco that is refreshing and easy-drinking. Perfect for everyday enjoyment, mimosa and bellinis, or toasting with friends.
Weszeli “Eden” Rose - Wiszele Rose is made from estate grown grapes and is a cuvée of Zweigelt and Cabernet Franc. Anyone who sees the Schöntal vineyard knows why its name means “Eden.” The grapes are hand harvested, fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts and crafted with minimal intervention. 65% of the juice is rested on the skins overnight to draw out a delicate pale pink hue. Aged 5 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks and bottled unfilterd (so yes, that little bit of sediment at the bottom of the bottle is supposed to be there), the wine is a fresh and vital expression of the grape varieties. Fruity aromas are complemented by a dry palate of wild raspberries, pink grapefruit, herbs, and citrus zest.
Matchbook Wines “The Arsonist” Red – Past vintages of the Arsonist have been huge hits, and we think this 2018 will be too. The Arsonist Red is just amazing and a more than worthy follow up to the 2017 vintage, which was rated 92 points by Wine Enthusiast and named one of their top 100 wines of the year (#71). The Arsonist Red Blend begins with an absolutely intoxicating aroma of plum, licorice, cinnamon, spice, blueberry and more. Lots of secondary notes come out in the glass with a little air as well. The lovefest continues when tasting this smooth, delicious wine. There is, of course, lots of rich, ripe dark fruit but also hints of chocolate, more cinnamon and licorice and even a bit of bramble. Chewy tannins lead into the dry, lingering finish.
Bosco Montepulciano d’Abruzzo – Bosco is one of the original producers of Montepluciano d’Abruzzo. In fact, the Bosco family started their winery in 1897, 50 years before the DOC of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo existed and they were the first one to be imported to the US market in 1968. A classic everyday, pizza/pasta red that goes with lots of different foods, it’s a brilliant ruby red color with violet tinges. Intense aromas and flavors, refined and elegant, with hints of sour cherry, blueberry, violet and flint. Smooth tannins, full-bodied and a long, fresh finish.
Marietta OVR (Old Vine Red) Lot #73 – We’ve been huge fans of this delicious, multi-vintage Zinfandel based blend for decades as it never fails to please and drinks like a much more expensive wine. Parker’s Wine Advocate agrees and just have the Lot #73 a whopping 95 points. The NV OVR Lot 73 is composed mainly of Zinfandel with smaller portions of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignan and Barbera. Medium ruby, it offers intense red cherry, blood orange and apricot perfume with accents of rooibos tea leaves, red licorice, saline, lilac and loads of spicy nuances. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet with soft tannins, bursts of refreshing acidity and detailed amaro accents on the long finish.
Rosa del Golfo Primitivo - The Primitivo by Rosa del Golfo is a red wine from Salento characterized by warmth, smoothness, balance and elegance, born from a short aging in oak barrels. A spicy and Mediterranean bouquet of black fruits, red flowers, wild herbs, pepper and sweet spices animate a velvety, warm, full-bodied, elegant and persistent finish.
Clos des Fous “Pour Ma Guele” Itata Red Blend - Clos des Fous was founded in 2008 by Pedro Parra, Francois Massoc, Paco Leyton and Albert Cussen. The four friends were tired of hearing that Chilean wine was all boring, industrial, green, and overripe so they set out in search of the “Dark Side of the Moon.” Clos des Fous’ philosophy is to produce wines with tension, from grapes grown in extreme terroir, with minimal intervention in the winery. This blend (Cinsault 85%, Pais 8%, Malbec 5%, Carignan 2%) from the Itata region has notes of tobacco, rose petals, mint, eucalyptus, and juicy red apple on the nose. The palate shows red fruits of raspberry, caramel apple, rhubarb, and strawberry to lead to a finish of dark chocolate and earl gray tea with medium tannin.
Roeno “La Rua” Marzemino – This lighter style red expresses a vivid ruby red color with purplish reflections. The bouquet is delicate and intense, with a scent reminiscent of violets and small berries. Consistent with the nose, the palate is harmonious, with good structure, with excellent retro-nasal correspondences to the fruity notes. A wine for the whole meal, it is ideal with both white and red meat dishes, and is not too aggressive and is even good with a slight chill. Perfect for these warm days of summer and early fall.
Accomplice Cabernet Sauvignon – The creators of the #IMOMSOHARD web series have teamed up with Paso Robles winemaker Marty Spate (who also makes the great value Line 39 Wines and one of our Paso Robles favorites, Robert Hall Wines) for this easy drinking California Cabernet Sauvignon. The ladies describe their Cab as “Bold and easy to drink, this smooth criminal pairs beautifully with whatever’s in the fridge. Flavors of blackberry, plum, and currant along with subtle, smooth tannins make this one a California Cab worth writing home about (or running away with).”
