Wine Advocate Notes
91 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The San Lorenzo 2017 Brunello di Montalcino (made with certified-organic fruit) is dark and saturated, and although you get lots of bold and luscious fruit, the oak is also quite evident. It brings forth spice, smoky tar and cedar, so you might need to wait a few more years until that subsides and integrates. The tannins need softening. That said, the wine has the ample fruit to support its many elements and spices." 02/22
Vinous Media
90 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous: "The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino bursts from the glass with masses of crushed raspberry, dusty rose and autumnal spice. This is seamlessly smooth and creamy in feel, mixing potent red fruits with savory herbal tones over a core of saline-infused acidity. It leaves a lasting twang of salted licorice, hints of cranberry and only the slightest tug of grippy tannin. The 2017 will only require minimal cellaring to show its best." 12/21
Wine Enthusiast Notes
90 Points, Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast: "Camphor, blue flower, ripe plum and resin aromas waft out of the glass. On the tightly wound, linear palate, close-grained, enveloping tannins accompany dried cherry, star anise and a hint of tobacco. Drink 2024–2029." 04/22
