Pinot 6-pack Sampler #2 - White Pinot (Pinot Blanc, Gris, Grigio, Rose of ...)

$138 Value For Just $100!

For many white wine drinkers, Pinot Grigio was their introduction to the world of dry style white wines.  Easy drinking, fresh and fruity (sometimes even a hint sweet for the mass produced grocery store brands), its on every restaurant wine list, and lots of inexpensive examples out there.  Some fell in love with the grape and have stuck with it while many moved on to other varietals.
But if you think that all Pinot Gris/Grigio and other members of the white Pinot family of wines are simple, fruity, uninteresting wines then this sampler will be a real eye opener.  If you're already a fan of "better" white Pinot's then this is a great deal you won't want to pass by.

Sampler includes 1 bottle each wine:

Crazy Beautiful Wines "Bella Pazza" 1L (Italy)  – The "classic" entry in our White Pinots sampler, this delicious Pinot Grigio from Veneto is a tremendous value (& would be if it came in a standard size, but its a full 1 Liter bottle!).  From the beginning the Crazy Beautiful Wines were created to provide outstanding value and we've found that they really deliver.  Their Pinot Grigio is sourced from select, certified organically farmed vineyards in the Delle Venezie district.  This Pinot Grigio packs a punch with rich citrus fruits balanced by a snappy backbone of acidity. The color is a pale yellow hue with a nose of lemon/lime citrus fruits and a pallet brings  tones of melon, orange blossom and mango to the zippy citrus.

Raptor Ridge Pinot Gris (Oregon) -  As a clonal mutation of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris can exhibit some red fruit character and texture depending treatment in the winery. Raptor Ridge's version, created in an Alsatian style, exhibits fuller body and balanced minerality due to extended lees contact making it the ideal pairing for hard cheeses and charcuterie, fattier fish dishes. An intense nose portraying pretty honeysuckle tones alongside white peach and pink grapefruit blossom. The palate is fresh, vibrant and impeccably textured with layers of pretty orchard fruits that mingle with kumquat and shades of baking spices.

Nagelsforst Tautanzer Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) Trocken (Germany) - This tantalizing wine is dry and elegant, like the dancing dewdrop on the vine in the morning wind high in the Germant Alps.  Tautanzer's Pinot Blanc enchants with a fine scent of pears and apples as well as expressive length on the palate.  Creamy yellow apple, hazelnut and spice abound in this plump, juicy white that is dry but silky on the palate. Easy-drinking with succulent orchard-fruit flavors but is elevated by lingering mineral tones and a zesty lime finish.

Pfeffigen Blanc de Noir (Germany) - Usually when you see Blanc de Noir on a label it’s followed by Brut or some other similar term denoting the relative sweetness of the sparkling wine that you’re looking at.  Here it means the same thing, “White wine from black/red skinned grapes” but since things stop there, there’s no carbonation in this fantastic German white wine made from Pinot Noir.  Aromas of green apple, white flowers, and peach lead into flavors of citrus, raspberry, and light minerality.  The palate is dry, with zesty acidity and a touch of effervescence.  The wine ends with a juicy and medium finish with a light chalky note.

Vattan Rose of Pinot Noir (Sancerre) Michel Vattan is one of the best examples of how a winemaker can begin with next to nothing, grow slowly, and with hard work and persistence begin to produce world renowned wines. Vattan mostly grows Sauvignon Blanc for which Sancerre is famous, though Sancerre though he does produce a little Pinot Noir, most of  which made into an incredibly fresh and delicious dry Rosé.

Crafted completely organically, estate grown from Pinot Noir, it is made in the direct press method which allows the wine to have similar freshness to the classic Sancerre, but retain the aromatics of Pinot Noir. Brilliant, bright pink hue with salmon highlights, the wine has a powerful bouquet that combines red berry fragrances (strawberry, cherry, red currant) with spicy nuances. On the palate, the balance of freshness and smoothness is immediately appreciated and the wine shows a lovely full character and long lasting aromas. The floral and fruity aromas nicely line the palate and the finish is light and long.

Domaine Bousquet Brut Rose - By all of the incredible reviews and high scores the 100% organically produced wines crafted at Argentina's Domaine Bousquet have been receiving for a decade plus now, you would expect them to cost much more than they do, yet they remain amazingly affordable.  Among the stars of the lineup is the Sparkling Brut Rose, where 25% Chardonnay is blended with a base of Pinot Noir. Sparks of lime and lemon drop on the nose presage the liveliness of the palate, with its layered peach and strawberry fruit.  Most amazingly for a sparkling wine of this price, seams between the acidity and the soft-bubbled, silken texture simply don’t show and all is as beautifully integrated many Champagnes costing 5-10 times as much.
