Jean-Marie Reverdy 2018 Domaine de la Villaudiere Sancerre Rouge (1.5L)

Handed down through several generations, this family estate is surrounded by vineyards and overlooks the famous village of Verdigny. This unique location offers stunning views of the famous Sancerre hill. Today Jean-Marie Reverdy manages the flourishing Domaine de la Villaudière with his wife, Catherine and their son, Guillaume.

Their estate was replanted 40 years ago, the vines are now reaching the pinnacle of their quality potential. The Reverdy's are lucky enough to have diverse terroir within their vineyards, 50% is planted in clay-limestone soil locally referred to as "Terres Blanches" and 50% in dry, stony limestone soil called "Caillotes," which gives them a variety of flavors to work with when crafting the final blend.  The vines are cultivated according to “la lutte rainsonnée”, using sustainable agricultural methods and reducing the amount of chemicals, in order to respect the land and its environment and achieved HEV Level 3 (High Environmental Value, with level 3 the highest level) certification in 2020.

This gorgeous Loire Valley Pinot Noir has a deep strong garnet hue with crimson highlights and opens with a bouquet that is a delectable blend of ripe red fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) earth and spice. The expressive ripe red fruits are elevated by smoky notes of roasted coffee, finishing with a soft, silky texture as the wine opens up with beautiful volume and is full of finesse and elegance.
