Lots of new and interesting, unique, real fun and of course... DELICIOUS wines in our current mixed case deal.  We hope you'll enjoy exploring some new regions and varietals and add them to your regular shopping list!

This month’s case includes 1 bottle of each wine (3 whites, 1 rose & 8 reds):

Waipara Chardonnay (New Zealand) – You ABC folks (Anything but Chardonnay) should definitely try this one.  When most people say they don't like Chardonnay what they really mean is they don't like OAKY & BUTTERY.  Those flavors come from winemaking techniques and are stylistic choices that the winemaker has made and don't really have anything to do with the grape.   This crisp and refreshing style Chardonnay from New Zealan has aromas and flavors of grapefruit zest, dried figs and line with subtle hints of vanilla and Camembert.

Husch Chenin Blanc (Mendocino, CA) Lifted aromas of orange blossom, white peach, honeydew melon, apricot, chamomile, and wet limestone invite your nose to the glass. Fresh, fruity, and vibrant in the mouth, the crisp flavors and rich texture linger with a mineral finish. 90pts Wine Enthusiast

Wine Art Estate "Techni Alipias" Drama White (Greece) - This delicious white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko from the Drama region of Greece.  Two grape varieties from the “Wine Art” Estate’s vineyards combine their distinctive qualities. The Sauvignon Blanc offers rich aromas of mature summer fruits, with a keen taste, while the Assyrtiko provides a tanginess, richness and inner structure.

Anheuser Blanc de Noir (Germany) – This has been our best selling German wine since we first came across it.  Anheuser bleeds off a portion of the fresh juice during the production of his "regular" Pinot Noir in order to concentrate the amount pigments there, but the juice is too good to blend with something else or sell off, so he bottles and sells it as Blanc de Noir, and we're glad he does.  This vintage has a little more pink-ish hue than last year's and is a pinkish yellow colored wine that opens with a mild strawberry bouquet laced with hints of apple and tropical fruit and flowers. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, fruity and easy going. The flavor profile is a tasty mild ripe strawberry with hints of maraschino cherry and gala apple.

Domaine Maestracci Clos Reginu Corse Calvi (Corsica) - Here's one you probably aren't too familiar with.  The main grape in this fantastic blend from Corsica is Niellucciu, a variety of Sangiove grown almost exclusively on the island.  Here it is blended with Grenache, Sciaccarellu, Syrah and Mourvedre.  Exotic and vibrant red fruits like pomegranate, dragonfruit and pomegranate pith, red roses and dried flowers.  On the palate, it is smooth and has flavors of cherry, redcurrant, and fennel, finishing with soft, leathery tannins.

Fraga do Corvo Mencia (Spain) - Mencia is a grape from North Western Spain that is making a bit of a comeback.  Popular for producing lower quality table wines for centuries, many young winemakers have taken a liking to the varietal and are helping transition the varietal from quantity to quality production.  Red cherry, with captivating intensity leads off, later revealing elegant aromas of black and red fruits of the forest, spicy notes of black pepper, cloves, balsamic aromas of eucalyptus with light toasted notes and hints of vanilla.  Fresh acidity and elegant tannins maintain the balance between the fruit and spice leading to a long pleasant finish.

Tenuta L'Impostino Montecucco (Italy) - The Montecucco DOC is one of the best kept secrets in southern Tuscany and must be at least 60% Sangiovese. The nose is intense and fruity, characterized in particular by hints of cherry and red plum, to which are added delicate floral notes of violet. The mouth is well structured in the tannic texture, soft and fresh at the same time, of good length and slightly almondy at the end. - 92pts James Suckling

Quinta do Casal Monteiro Unoaked Touriga Nacional (Portugal) – Best known for its role in the table and fortified wines of the Douro district, Touriga Nacional is also grown in the Tejo where it produces a brighter, less tannic wine.  Spicy and perfumed, this wine celebrates its black fruit flavors that are kept fresh and unencumbered by the stainless steel fermentation. The tannins are ripe, giving their dry edge to the blackberry fruitiness and acidity.

Noah River "Solroom" Red (California) –  A brand new blend from our pals at Noah River.  Solroom (sun room) Red is a dark plum in color with a ripe, forward nose of black, brambly fruits, dark cherry, and baker's chocolate. Delicious, full-bodied flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, and baker's chocolate with fine tannins and perfect measure of acidity to tie it all off with a bow.

Goose Ridge G3 Merlot (Washington)This textbook style Washington State Merlot is a fantastic bargain for an estate grown and produced wine of this quality.  Exhibits expressive and fresh aromas of red cherries, strawberries, and red currants complimented by notes of cola and cocoa. The palate opens broad and juicy leading into a core of intense and concentrated flavors of cherries and red plums. The supple and textured mid palate enhances the impression of fresh fruit. A fresh, lively, enduring finish is characterized by notes of blueberries, plum, and subtle baking spices.

Enate Estate Cabernet/Merlot (Spain) - All of the grapes come from estate-owned vineyards planted at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level that were hand harvested and sorted. Both varieties of this 50/50 Cabernet/Merlot blend were separately vinified in stainless steel tanks and after blending aged for 6 months in a mix of French and American oak.  complex nose of woodland fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) with elegant floral touches (violet) and traces of pepper, vanilla and underbrush. A soft, rounded palate on a feather bed of tannins opening the way to a flavorful finish in the mouth, with toasty accents.

Robert Hall Paso Robles Cabernet (California)Robert Hall Winery produces wines from their estate vineyards and are members of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.  The intense dark ruby red color of our Cabernet Sauvignon is reflective of this full-bodied, flavorful wine. The core of black currant and hints of cedar and spice along with cocoa aromas echoed by rich persistent flavors of plush ripe fruit, dark chocolate and anise are all supported by balanced, rich velvety tannins.
