El Viejo del Valle Pinot Noir (Chile) - Pinot Noir is one of the top Thanksgiving reds of all time, and here’s a fun and budget-friendly version from Coastal Chile. If you've got a thirsty crowd this holiday season try this fantastic wine that drinks like a $20+ Santa Barbara County Pinot, with its silky red fruits and graceful tannin, you won’t believe the price on this extreme value. Summer fruits of red currant, raspberry and wild strawberries on the nose follow through to a juicy palate. A touch of oak adds spice complexity.
Protocolo Tinto (Spain) - The Eguren family produces Protocolo Tinto, which is perennially voted as one of the world's best value wines, from vineyards in Manchuela, Rioja, and Toro. Protocolo is medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy mid-palate boasting smoky, juicy red and dark berries. With extended exposure to air it reveals a vibrant note of abundant cool blueberries. It finishes dry with hints of toasted cedar and spice.
Les Vignerons du Castelas Cuvee d'Antan Cotes du Rhone (France) - Les Vignerons du Castelas were founded in 1952 from the will of four Winemakers to share their grapes and hard work, in order to be able to deliver great wines from the area of Rochefort-du-Garde located in the Southern Rhone Valley, between Avignon and Pont du Gard. They named themselves after Le Castelas, the Romantic chapel built in the 11th Century, a symbol of the town. All the winegrowers are sustainable, and many of them are in the conversion to get certified organic. Grenache, Sirah and Mourvèdre are vinified separately and only the best parcels are blended to be bottled. It has everything you want it a great value Cotes du Rhone. It has an opaque purple color with a big nose that almost smells like a Gigondas. Large amounts of dark fruits like blackberry, black cherry, cassis and a great density and very full bodied for this price.
MDZ Malbec (Argentina) - This 100% unoaked Malbec, from a thirty-five-acre vineyard planted in 1995, situated at 3,000 feet of elevation and composed of rocky, sandy soils. The nose comes alive with hints of mocha, blueberry, cherries, and rose petals that lead to a rich texture held up by a good structure and smooth tannins. This fruit-driven wine showcases boysenberry, blackberry, cocoa and cola nut flavors on the palate. The finish is long and smooth with hints of dried herbs and cedar that encapsulate the bright and vibrant wine.
Carmenet Reserve Merlot (Carmenet) - 82% Merlot blended with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah, Rubired, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Ripe fruit aromas of fresh berries, red plum and cherry are robust and lead to rich flavors of fresh berry pie, milk chocolate and notes of black tea on the palate. The wine is well structured with a juicy mouthfeel, smooth tannins and a lasting finish.
Sand Point Zinfandel (California) - This is a crazy-good value Zin produced by the Lange Twins Family Vineyards that is "Lodi Rules Certified Green" for sustainable farming and a "Best in Class" winner at this year's San Francisco Chronicle's wine competition. Bursting with juicy dark berry aromas and flavors that are simple, yet bright. These concentrated fruit notes come together with a touch of spice that Zinfandel is known for.
