Gran Appasso Apassite Red

Amarone and Ripasso style wines from Veneto are classic parings with Thanksgiving and fall/winter comfort food fare, but it’s become all but impossible to find a decent one under $20 these days.  This southern Italian take on the dried fruit style of winemaking that has made Amarone so famous and expensive is an incredible bargain. Gran Appasso is a blend of Primitivo and Negroamaro grapes, where the Negroamaro are partially dried before fermentation.  The result is a wine with a deep ruby ​​color and intense tones of dark, juiciness of red fruits and spices. In the mouth a combination of plums, blueberries, blackberries, cherries and chocolate. Beautiful full and velvety wine with pleasant juiciness and a very long finish.
