Domaine des Geleries Vieilles Vignes Bourgueil
$ 1799
Bourgueil (central Loire Valley) is the birthplace of Cabernet Franc wines, having been grown and produced at the Abbey de Bourgueil for more than 1,000 years. On the south-facing hillsides of Bourgueil, clay and limestone soils called "tuffeau" are the most common in this area. This silky red wine is reminiscent of lush raspberries, ripe cherries and a bouquet that adds notes of newly sharpened pencils. The palate is ripe and dense but nicely balanced with deep black raspberry/cassis fruit with firm acidity and chalky minerals in the finish.
