The Tavel AOC is dedicated to making Rosé. No red nor white wines are allowed to be produced and wear the name Tavel on the label. Oh, but what rosé they make in Tavel! Primarily Grenache with lesser amounts of other indigenous local varietals, this is a powerful and concentrated wine that shows strawberry and watermelon notes complemented by notes of spice and wild herb. Unabashedly fruity but totally dry, this is a big, full-bodied rosé that can stand up to hearty dishes.
