Castelfeder 2021 "Lahn" Kerner
Winemaker Notes
Lightning rod of freshness and acidity - citrus fruits like lemon/lime with hints of white peach and mango.
Gunther Giovanett took over the family business in 1989 after his father retired from the daily operations of the winery he founded in 1969. Located in the center of Neumarkt, in the South Tyrol region of Italy, the Giovanett family produces a range of unique wines. Now into their third generation, Gunther and his son Ivan are gaining a better understanding of the special micro-climates that exist in the Alto-Adige and South Tyrol regions.
Critical Acclaim
91pts Wine Enthusiast
Savory and medium bodied, this tangy white has aromas of yellow stone fruit, grapefruit and jasmine. On the bright palate, vibrant acidity accompanies ripe apricot, peach and nutmeg.
91pts Vinous Media
Exotic, spicy and hard to pull away from, the 2021 Kerner Lahn bursts from the glass with an intense mix of tropical citrus and exotic florals that give way to sour melon. It's silky and elegant in feel, with cooling acidity and herbal-tinged orchard fruits. Sour lime and hints of grapefruit linger through the long and dramatic finale, as a salty tinge of minerality slowly fades. This fantastic Kerner aims to please.
