Brilliant Mistake 2018 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Jeb Dunnuck 96pts This estate continues to produce brilliant wines. Their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 100% Cabernet aged 21 months in 65% new oak, reveals a dense purple color as well as pretty, nuanced notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil, spice box, and flowers. I love its purity of fruit, it’s full-bodied, has wonderful tannins, and is just a beautiful wine that’s going to evolve for two decades.
Wine Advocate 96pts Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color, rolling reluctantly out of the glass with tar and earthy notes to begin, giving way to compelling notions of baked plums, warm cassis and wild blueberries plus wafts of dried sage and tilled earth. Full-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid structure of grainy tannins supporting the muscular, crunchy black fruits, finishing long and lively. 300 cases were made.
