Free Wine Tasting with Mutual Distributing
Friday August 11, 6:30-8pm at Taylor’s Wine Shop
Andy McDowell from Mutual Distributing will be joining us for this Friday’s tasting. In honor of white Pinot month, Andy will have a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Blanc among his lineup of wines this Friday.
Ferrari-Carano Pinot Grigio $14.99
Stainless steel fermentation with weekly lees stirring yields a California Pinot Grigio with weight and fuller, silky richness to its flavor profile with flavors of apricot, peach, honeyed citrus with a delicate touch of floral essence.
Four Graces Pinot Blanc $16.99 White nectarine and honeysuckle jump from the glass followed by hints of vanilla bean, honey and Asian pears. On the palate tropical fruits like pineapple and guava mingle with Satsuma oranges and finish with a soft cream and velvety textures.
Bieler Pere & Fis Aix-Provence Rose $12.99
The Bieler family is renowned around the world for their value priced Rose’s that over-deliver for their price. The Aix region of Provence is one of southern France’s best Rose areas and most wines from there are usually $20+. This Rose displays a light, bright cranberry color in the glass. In addition to the usual raspberry, cherry, and wild strawberry red fruit aromas, there’s a citrusy (grapefruit) and slightly floral note with the important underlying savory structure of lavender, grass and herbs de Provence.
Matchbook Tempranillo $14.99 Spain’s Tempranillo grape is a perfect summer red varietal and California’s Matchbook winery is one state’s top producers of the varietal. Classic blue fruit flavors get a boost of black cherry and red fruit from a dash of Cabernet. Soft, leathery tannins are complimented by hints of vanilla, spice and toast.
Cartlidge & Browne Cabernet Sauvignon $13.99 A brand that’s been around for a while and we’ve always liked but that has gotten lost in the shuffle in recent years. Seemingly aware of that fact C&B has a new distributor and updated packaging but still delivering the same great value. A Cab that is packed with ripe berry and cherry flavors, that remains surprisingly well-balanced due to good acidity and firm tannins that buoy the full flavors and give a lively tension in the mouth. Complementary spicy accents from oak come out with each sip.
