Cap Royal Bordeaux Superieur (Bordeaux, France) - Cap Royal Bordeaux Supérieur is a ‘sum of its parts’ sort of wine. Jean-René Matignon, winemaker at the renowned Chateau Pichon Baron, is in charge of the wine each vintage and uses his extensive connections in Bordeaux to source grapes from vineyards he sees fit for the year’s blend. This allows him to select the best fruit to achieve his vinous goal without being limited to one plot of land.   Intensely colored with a nose of blackberry, blueberry and spice, the wine expresses more dark fruits, vanilla and toasted oak on the palate. It’s powerful and rich, yet refreshing.

Domaine Gonzague Maurice "Victor" (Cotes de Castillon, France) - Before settling in Montagne, owner/winemakerer Gonzague Maurice worked for some famous estates around France: in Sancerre, in Château Maucamps (Haut-Medoc), Domaine Chevalier (Pessac-Léognan), Château Poupille (Côtes de Castillon) and Domaine de l'Île Margaux. In 2005 he decided to buy an old winery and 3.2 hectares of vines. Once set up, he decided to expand the estate, which currently covers 7.5 hectares in Montagne Saint Emillion, 2.5 hectares in Puisseguin Saint Emillion and 3 hectares in Côtes de Castillon.

Wearing a deep crimson robe the nose exudes liqueur of red berries nose with hints of tobacco and truffle. On the palate the wine is round and velvety with flavors of ripe black berries hints fresh mint notes, finishing with hints of baking spice and cacao backed by leathery tannins.

Santa Ema Reserve Merlot (Chile) - A perennial best buy award winner, this spectacular bargain Merlot is from the Maipo Valley of Chile.  Ruby red-violet in color with aromas of plum and blackberry together with intense and unmistakable aromas of caramel, vanilla, and chocolate. It’s smooth on the palate with ripe tannins, ample structure, and very good balance between fruit, tannins and acidic structure.

La Storia by Trentadue Alexander Valley Estate Merlot (Sonoma) - The leading aromas and flavors are of dark cherry, plums, a bit of black licorice and herbs. The new oak barrels contribute a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa dust, and toast. On the mouth the wine is soft and viscous, balancing the acidity and the tannins well for such a young wine. The finish is long and soft with suggestion of jammy fruit backed by ripe tannins.

Parcel 41 North Coast Merlot (California) - The Parcel 41 Merlot shines ruby red in the glass, with shimmering purple undertones. The nose is dark and alluring, with aromas of black currant, saddle leather, and milk chocolate, with a subtle and delicate floral note. The mouth is soft and substantial, with round, mouth-filling tannins layering smoothly with the densely packed flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, spicy black plum, and smoky espresso.  A real Cab drinker's style Merlot.

Dusted Valley Wines "Boomtown" Columbia Valley Merlot (Washington) - This Merlot offers aromas of grandma's cherry pie, peppered pastrami, blueberry compote, and magnolia blossom with a chewy, crisp, dry medium-to-full body and a peppery, refreshing, medium-length leather, carob, black licorice, and firm plum finish with chewy tannins.
