Great Value Reds Mixed Case – January 2022
$240 value for just $140
The mixed case includes 2 bottles each wine:
Game of Thrones Pinot Noir (California) - The Game of Thrones craze is over and they've pulled the plug on the Game of Thrones label, which means we got these great wines for a great price, and we're passing the savings along.
HBO spent a ton of money on the series, and they didn't slap a label on just anything for the wines created in honor of the series. They hired renowned winemaker Bob Cabral (former Williams Selyem winemaker & first winemaker to get a perfect 100 points for a California Pinot Noir) to craft the wines and he turned out some really great wines. This Pinot Noir is elegant, well-built and bursting with brilliant, ripe, rich fruit flavors and aromas. It is fruit focused with subtle tones of earthiness, vanilla, spice and toasted oak in the background. There is a long, smooth inviting finish; tannins are present and well blended.
Game of Thrones Red (California) - Respected winemaker Bob Cabral is again at the helm for this fantastic red blend crafted from select vineyards in Paso Robles, CA. The wine is blended from six varietals, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot, backed up with Tempranillo and Malbec. Dark bing cherry, mulberry, vanilla and mocha aromas. Soft, juicy black fruit combines with chewy tannins to provide a full, rich palate. The wine is youthful and fruit forward with a lasting finish.
Parcel 41 Merlot (California) - The nose is dark and alluring, with aromas of black currant, saddle leather, and milk chocolate, with a subtle and delicate floral note. The mouth is soft and substantial, with round, mouth-filling tannins layering smoothly with the densely packed flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, spicy black plum, and smoky espresso.
Bodini Malbec (Argentina) - Great Wine & Great Cause! A portion of all Bodini wine sales are also donated to the Dominio del Plata Scholarship Foundation which was established to help fulfill the dream of a college education to winery worker families throughout Argentina. Fruit and spice on the palate balanced by notes of fresh fruits like plums and blackberries. It is ripe in the mouth with soft, round tannins and a long finish. 90pts James Suckling
Hayes Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (California) - Flavors of red cherry, anise, and a hint of vanilla, abound in our Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is well balanced with medium tannins, a smooth mid-palate and a spicy, coffee finish.
Purple Heart Sonoma Red (California)
- For over 60 years the Purple Heart Foundation has been supporting and honoring the sacrifice military veterans have made for our country. Napa's venerable Charles Krug winery crafts the Purple Heart Wine and all proceeds go back to the foundation. The 2016 Purple Heart wine is crafted from hand-selected lots of pristine Sonoma County fruit, with both Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley vineyards figuring prominently. This medium-bodied offering opens with bright aromas of raspberries and cedar that precede richly textured notes of dark fruit and black currant on the palate. The wine’s finely balanced tannins give it a long, velvety mouthfeel with hints of caramelized brown sugar lingering through the finish.
