Some of our favorite “Unusual Varietal” wines you should try:
Post House 2014 Missing Virgin Red $24.99
A Pinotage based blend from South Africa that has become of out best selling reds under $30. Beautiful dark fruit with a hint of smokiness.
Liquid Geography 2015 Mencia Rose $11.99
A dry rose from the Bierzo region of Spain from a grape known as Mencia. Strawberry, dried cherry and gravelly minerals. Plus the winery donates 100% of the profits to charity.
Elio Perrone 2015 Tasmorcan Barbera d’ Asti $17.99
A sensual nose of roses, violets and purple fruit. A palate to match the aromas plus velvety tannins.
Giraudon 2015 Bourgogne Aligote $16.99
Aligote is one of my favorite “outside the box” wines to serve at Thanksgiving (and lots of other occasions too). It always gets a great reaction. Similar to unoaked Chardonnay but with a slight nutty note that makes it great with lots of Turkey Day dishes.
