You may or not be familiar with the name David Phinney, but Locations Wines is his latest brainchild line of wines.  Dave is one of the most exciting winemakers California winemakers, but the last few years he’s been traveling the globe seeking out great fruit and growers to make wines in his favorite winegrowing locations.
David Phinney is the guy who created The Prisoner Wine at his Orin Swift Winery.  Join us Thursday to taste the 5 of our favorite wines in the Locations lineup with Dave’s GM Caine Thompson.

Locations CA White $19.99

Immediately, a nose of lemon zest, citrus, and a touch of honey lead to a bright and crisp entry complemented by an encompassing nectar mouth feel. A ripe stone fruit mid palate of apricots and peaches combine with an evolving crème custard coating. It finishes with a subtle minerality and a lychee texture, making this an ideal summertime wine.

Golden straw in color, this 100% Vermentino Corsica boasts fresh and engaging aromas of honeysuckle, lime zest, and orange blossom. Bright and lively upon entry, it leads to a textural mélange of Meyer lemon, almond, pear, and mountain herbs. There is a hint of wet stone that juxtaposes nicely with an ever-present vein of acidity that provides for a clean finish.

Deep purple in color, the wine brims with aromas of wild blueberries, cassis, and pleasing notes of forest floor. The palate is initially treated to dense flavors of plum, milk chocolate and framboise. Following, a delightful interplay of violet, anise, black tea, and brown spices soon emerge giving further character to the wine. Silky tannins encapsulate things with a very pure and true finish.

The glass opens with a triple layered aroma of savory peppercorn and cocoa, jasmine flowers, and black fruit. The immediate dark chocolate structure provides the canvas on which black cherries, roasted lamb, and exotic spices intermingle. The wine finishes with the tapering dark chocolate structure and culminates with hints of vanilla.
