Walk for Hope

It’s that time of year again! The 28th Annual Thad & Alice Eure Walk/Run for Hope for The Foundation of Hope is now live and accepting donations. Let’s raise some money together for the Research and Treatment of Mental Illness. You can also join us on October 9th, 2016 at 7:00am for the 28th Annual Walk for Hope which will be at The Angus Barn! Team Taylor’s will be out there and hope you will walk with us for this great cause. The Walk for Hope is an annual 5K/10K walk & run hosted by The Foundation of Hope for Research & Treatment of Mental Illness. 100% of the money raised by participants DIRECTLY funds local mental health research at the UNC Neurosciences Hospital in Chapel Hill. A note from The Foundation of Hope: In 2015, walkers raised over $500,000 for the research and treatment of mental illness, and in 2016 we believe we can raise even more. People are starting to talk about mental health in America: more research projects are being funded. More people are seeking help. More disorders are being detected earlier, and more intervention methods are being adopted. People are talking – and we are listening. At The Foundation of Hope, we are proud to be a part of this new wave of mental health awareness. With YOUR help, we can continue to be a leading donor in mental health research. We can continue to fund projects that are leading to breakthroughs in treatment. And one day, we will fund a project that will lead to a...

Riedel Seminar

RIEDEL STEMWARE SEMINAR Tuesday, September 20th, 6:30pm Seating limited to 18 $55 per person (Take Home $60 worth of glassware) BUY TICKETS Ever wonder why some people make such a big deal about their wine glasses? Here’s your chance to see for yourself how big of a difference the wine glass can make in your taste and perception of the wine. Glassware and crystal makers since the mid-1700’s, the Riedel Stemware Company was the first one to demonstrate the size and shape of a wine glass can greatly alter how the wine tastes and is perceived. In the 1950’s Claus Riedel (pronounced like needle but with an “r”) introduced the first wineglasses designed specifically for certain wine varietals. Over the decades since, Riedel has introduced a number of “Varietal Specific” wine glasses and proven to just about everyone that the proper glass can enhance the enjoyment of your wine. We’ll be tasting 5 wines from their proper Riedel glass against the same wine from a non-Riedel “joker” glass and we’ll begin the night with a little sparkling wine. At the end of the night we guarantee that you’ll be amazed how much the glass influences the way your wines tastes AND you’ll get to take your 5 glasses home with you – 1 Sparkling, 1 Chardonnay, 1 Sauvignon Blanc, 1 Cabernet, & 1 Pinot Noir...

Burly at the Barn

BURLY WINE CELLAR DINNER Saturday, Sept. 17 | $150 per person 6pm Social – 7pm Dinner Buy Tickets Here: http://www.angusbarn.com/cart/Burly-Wine-Dinner-Saturday-September-17-2016-P111.aspx The name for BURLY originates from founder Hank McCrorie’s college football days, when he was dubbed “Burly Bear” by the local paper. The nickname stuck among his teammates and given the bold nature of this wine, is more than a befitting tribute. The oak tree display on the label is not only a symbol connecting the McCrorie’s childhoods – Hank growing up surrounded by the beautiful southern oaks of North Carolina and Bernice the sprawling oak trees at the family ranch in Northern California – but also embodies the intrinsic flavors of tannins and oak, balanced by the beauty of its velvety, rich and flavorful layers. Dinner Menu 1st Course: Roasted Quail with Chestnut, Andouille, and Cornbread Stuffing over Collards and Mustard Greens topped with Thyme Jus 2014 Burly, Chardonnay 2nd Course: Slow Braised Pork Belly Salad with Frisse & Rocket Lettuce and Pickled Radishes 2014 Burly, Sauvignon Blanc 3rd Course: Sorbet 4th Course: Black Truffled Beef Medallions served with Smashed Turnip & Yukon Gold Potatoes, Chevere, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, and Baby Carrots 2011 & 2012 Burly, Cabernet Sauvignon 5th Course: Wild Berry Napoleon with Mango & Lavender Cream and Raspberry & Chambourd Puree 2012 Burly, Cabernet Sauvignon, Special...
