ANDI’S BEER CORNER MAR 7

For the entire month of March we are taking an additional 20% off all bombers! Bombers are 22 oz. singles commonly used by a brewery to showcase a special or limited release beer. Rather than committing to a 6 pack, bombers are a great way to try something new. Larger than a single 12 oz. beer, they are easily shared. Yet smaller than a 40 oz. beer, they can be enjoyed alone. Most people associate this larger bottle with heavier styles of beer like porters and stouts or something that has been barrel aged. Nowadays breweries are using bombers as a format for all styles of beer! CHECK OUT WHAT IS NEW THIS WEEK IN ANDI’S BEER CORNER! TERRAPIN BREWING, ATHENS GA THE WALKING DEAD BLOOD ORANGE IPA – ABV 6.7% Available in 6 pack cans $12.99 So excited about the latest arrival from Terrapin! This blood orange IPA is the official beer of The Walking Dead released just in time for the start of season 7. It’s been known that the guys making The Walking Dead really appreciate local craft beer. Case stacks from Terrapin and other breweries in Georgia, the same place The Walking Dead was filmed, have made appearances in previous episodes of the show. Showing even more appreciation for the craft, Terrapin and the show’s creator Robert Kirkman partnered together to brew a beer TWD fans would love. With a ton of fresh hops and blood orange peel, this IPA is juicy and fresh. A great and easy to drink IPA, this beer was made to be enjoyed while watching the show. Pair it with...

Most people associate this larger bottle with heavier styles of beer like porters and stouts or something that has been barrel aged. Nowadays breweries are using bombers as a format for all styles of beer! These are some of the coolest ones we have available now in the shop: CALIFORNIA CIDER COMPANY (SEBASTOPOL CA) ACE SPACE BLOODY ORANGE CRAFT CIDER – ABV 6.9% Available in 22 oz. bombers $6.99 We are one of the only shops around that carry the full selection of Ace ciders including both of their special release bombers. Ace Space has a semisweet apple backbone with a zesty blood orange flavor throughout. The blood orange flavor was chosen by Ace’s Facebook followers and dedicated to owner Jeffrey House’s wife, Angela Staines. The space theme and label serve as a gesture to Angela’s role as Brea Tonnika in the original 1977 Star Wars film, Episode IV: A New Hope. Look for her smoking a hookah pipe in the iconic scene where Han Solo meets Luke Skywalker for the first time in Chalmun’s Cantina!   WESTBROOK BREWING (MT. PLEASANT SC) 6TH ANNIVERSARY HAZELNUT CHOCOLATE IMPERIAL STOUT – ABV 10% Available in 22 oz. bombers $11.99...

It’s time to shine on with 5 great brews this week! More great beers from D9 Brewing, Bell’s Brewery, Ballast Point and Spoetzel! BELL’S BREWERY (KALAMAZOO, MI) TWO HEARTED ALE IPA – ABV 7% Available in 4pk 16oz. cans $9.99 We are excited to share that one of Bell’s most famous year round beers is back in stock at Taylor’s! Named after the famous Two Hearted river in Michigan’s upper peninsula, this American style IPA is dry hopped with 100% Centennial hops and balanced with American malts that are present throughout. Lots of citrus and pine aromas combine with a medium bodied mouthfeel to produce a very drinkable IPA. Not as hop forward as traditional west coast IPAs, this ale is great for any time of the year. And in its new can packaging, Two Hearted is definitely suited for outdoor activities. D9 BREWING CO. (CORNELIUS, NC) SYSTEMA NATURAE SCUPPERNONG & LILY SOUR ALE ABV 7% Available in 4pk bottles $14.99 This sour ale is a part of D9’s beer series Systema Naturae, “system of nature,” which was created to explore scientific processes and ingredients exhibited throughout the natural world. This ale is made with grapes from North Carolina, lily, and fermented with wild lactobacillus and yeast. These ingredients produce an interesting and complex earthy flavor profile. Expect a juicy tartness at the start and a dry finish with some fruity flavors lingering after. Sounds a little weird especially since it’s coming from a 10 barrel production microbrewery, right? Well, this particular sour won gold in the category of experimental beer at the North American Beer Festival in Denver,...

Another Great Week and More Great Brews! Check out this weeks featured brews by Andi from Honey Ale’s to Stouts! GOODWOOD BREWING (FORMERLY BLUEGRASS BREWING) BRANDY BARREL HONEY ALE – ABV 8.7% 4 pk bottles $13.99 Louisville’s longest continuously operated brewery is doing something no other brewery in the US has done… using limestone water to make their beer. This high pH level water promotes fermentation and makes the beer taste amazing. This is exactly what makes Kentucky famous for their bourbon. Limestone filters out impurities that could inhibit the taste of liquor, like iron, and adds minerals to water. The guys at Goodwood have tapped into this essential ingredient and use it in every beer they produce. They also spend extra time wood-aging their beers and guarantee that every batch they brew will come into contact with splinter-free wood at some point in the production process. The longest barrel-aged beer they make, the Brandy Barrel Honey Ale, is brewed with locally sourced honey and aged in American made brandy casks. Combined with that famous limestone water, this ale “tastes like a high five.” FOUNDERS BREWING IMPERIAL STOUT – ABV 10.9% 4-pk bottles $14.99 Founders has been ranked one of the top breweries in the world for the past five years! Recognized for making great beer with complex and strong in-your-face flavor, the Founders family has no interest in making standard beers. Their rich, full bodied Imperial Stout is an example of the brewery’s commitment to pushing the limits of what is commonly accepted in the craft world. Rated 100 points on ratebeer.com, this Russian imperial is brewed with...

North Carolina has become a hub for craft beer. It’s no surprise to anyone that this agriculturally rich state is the site of some of the most successful breweries, producing some of the best beers in the country and arguably the world. Here at Taylor’s we have a lot of love for our state and its craft beer! Because Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, here’s a few of our best local NC beers that we recommend sharing with someone you love! Foothills Brewing (Winston-Salem, NC) Domicile IPA, ABV 6.5%, available in 22 oz. bombers – $7.99 This is the first beer in the rotating hop series “Craft Happiness,” an IPA project that’s rooted in defining happiness and exploring what it means to make people happy. The guys at Foothills were influenced by their love for what they do, for crafting happiness, when they decided to start this project. But this IPA series is about a lot more than just celebrating the happy community of people dedicated to craft beer, it also raises awareness of issues in our communities that can have a negative impact on happiness. Every IPA in the series will focus on a human, environmental, or animal issue and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of that beer will go to help each cause. February’s Domicile is meant to bring attention to the issue of homelessness and the inaccessibility of housing to many people not just in our local community but in our global community as well. This is an American style IPA double dry-hopped with cascade hops “dedicated to those who seek the comforts...
